I was kindly offered a preview screening via Madmen films to what has been a very popular film in Asia and around the globe at festivals called 'The Raid'.
Set in Jakarta's slums, a run down apartment block ran by a drug lord receives a swat team at dawn. Things don't quite go as planned and, well, just take a look at the pretty violent trailer for a taste of what the SWAT team realise what they have landed themselves in...
Directed by Welshman Gareth Evans this is a more than just a martial arts and guns piece, and has a unique style, humour, and direction, but oodles of fights and original action sequences keep this very fresh. Myself and the preview posse at the screening had a great time, and if a bit of action is for you, make sure you raid your local multiplex to hunt this down.
