Where text only status updates can still often get a lot of 'views', (sometimes more than posts with images) Facebook pushed us all many years ago to add images as this would bring more views, and of course more attractive and contextual. This made sense and that's the current approach most have used and adopted.
In short you should not change your posts approach, just keep adding images or through URLS and ensure a high quality and relevant image when you post.
However...
Facebook inform us that text only updates will finally be pushed down in news feed ranking. Fair enough they did advise us to not use them (Despite them often recently still ranking higher than image posts!)
However, what currently is confusing everyone (but Facebook) is they suggest the best method is to "Link-Share" your content, despite the fact it's not 100% clear what this is. (I believe it's using a Facebook 'share' web site button which is only an option on your site which very few have, need or add.)
So again in short, don't change what you have been doing, but remember to ensure you post widely on all channels where you can; Twitter, +Google+ etc, where you don't have to pay for users to see your posts and all posts get seen regardless...
