One other social channel that's always had a deep problem for many is YouTube. Everyone loves the content, otherwise it wouldn't be the huge site it is, but the comments have always held it back. Everyone knows about it's awful trolls and spamming comments who can often pollute the system with hate, (and who are often just really young bored males).
So whilst not a full revelation in the comments dept., YouTube have announced today a step in the right direction for improvements, and what clearly is an ongoing part of an overall strategic master plan Google have always seemed to have with Google+. First with an integrated viewable videos tab, then merging accounts and pages with YouTube, and now improving and integrating comments in YouTube from Google+, albeit in a beta form. (see the screenshot below to see what this will look like in coming weeks)
A lot more progress to go, and there is going to be a lot of whining and complaining about change and Google+ integration, but the results several months down the line, with less trolls, and improved conversation, will definitely be for the better.
